Pablo Ruiz Picasso, the most well-known person from Malaga, attended traditional bullfighting events unconditionally. That ́s the reason why the connection between bullfighting and other cultural expressions such as painting is commonly regarded as natural.
Without any efforts, Picasso has been one of the biggest ambassadors in bullfighting. In fact, its iconography is captured in his life ́s work, from the cubism period till the end of his career and in all his expressions: painting, sculpture and pottery. As a result, he and his work have made our “Fiesta” known worldwide.
Therefore, it was natural that Picasso and bullfighting came together into “La Malagueta” bullring (or “Plaza de toros” as it is called in Spain) to create a unique bullfight, the Picassian.
